A Snapshot of the Sector
The fifth edition of Oil&nonoil and Fuel Storage and Transport (S&TC) is scheduled to take place at ModenaFiere from 13th to 15th May next year. The event will be, as always, a key meeting point for all those involved in this strategic sector. Work and partnerships to develop new niche markets. Fuel Storage and Transport keeps an eye on developments outside the industry.
Three exhibition halls at Modenafiere will host the fifth edition of Oil&nonoil – Car Wash, Alternative Fuels, Downstream and Service Stations, and the second edition of Fuel Storage and Transport (S&TC) from 13th to 15th May next year.
The terminology used to define the show’s focus serves to identify the event’s wide-ranging fields of interest. Each edition points to new trends and strengths within the industry while identifying and highlighting areas that, from the point of view of growth, ensure the show continues to offer fresh ideas and an ideal opportunity to bring together supply and demand in terms of technology and tools to improve and consolidate the business.
The 2010 edition
2010 saw a total of 190 exhibitors take part in the show (up 35% compared to 2008) which occupied an area of 17,000 sq.m (+30%). The 5,800 visitors (up by 16%) were spread evenly over the three-day event hitting a high of 2,300 on the Monday. In answer to the questionnaire handed out to them exhibitors expressed their satisfaction with the quality of visitors to the event, who were in their opinion, competent, well-qualified and for the most part authorised to negotiate business deals and sign contracts.
Furthermore last year saw the debut of Fuel Storage and Transport (and heating fuel), a specific area of the market covering many aspects of activities operating outside the network.
The 2012 edition
“We are interested in increasing the number of exhibitors, space and visitors”, says Tandem Comunicazione, the company that runs the O&NO and S&TC events. “But we want that growth to be strong and across the board, representing each of the production industries taking part. We are working to involve the trade associations and experts to link the event to new areas rich in potential efficiently. We want to offer sector operators a great deal and we expect a great response. There is no doubt S&TC will reward the efforts made since it has succeeded in attracting businesses from outside the network - a large market but for the most part unknown”. The organisers are eager to prove that the Modena event is the most comprehensive of its type for services and products covering a variety of operations within the petroleum sector in Europe.
A project within the project with much to offer is Oil&nonoil Sud, scheduled to take place in Naples on 25 and 26 September next year. This show is not only positive for producers and operators in the central-southern areas of the country but also allows the organisation to keep up with on-going changes and compare developments.
Seminars and conventions
The 32 meetings that took place during the previous edition attracted 900 visitors. Seminars, workshops and conventions looked at contemporary issues such as purification plants and electric cars, transportation and the birth of the so-called “white label” stations…
In 2012 the issues under debate will be chosen after consultation with exhibitors, trade associations, industry insiders and sector publications.
