Oil&nonoil 2010: Already Ahead of 2008

The fourth Oil&nonoil (ModenaFiere, 9-11 May) will fill three halls. All segments will be well represented at the event. Excellent response to S&TC. The calendar of conventions, workshops and seminars is in the process of being put together, and will deliver in-depth information on technical, organizational, management and regulation issues.

Visitors to the fourth Oil&nonoil (ModenaFiere, 9-11 May) will find fair has grown since 2008, with all the industry segments well represented. Perhaps it will take two days to visit it all and follow some of the numerous conventions, workshops and seminars that will offer more in-depth answers to technical, organization, management and regulation questions that will no doubt be very valuable for boosting business. Operators active in the fuel storage and transportation business will appreciate S&TC, the new event dedicated to fuel storage and transport that will be held in conjunction with Oil&nonoil.

2008 figures have been beatens

The participation of Eni Gas&Power and the Russian oil company Lukoil are a great source of satisfaction for the organizers of Oil&nonoil (www.oilnonoil.it), making the results achieved already by mid-February, still three months away from the fair, even more welcome: the fair is already set to exceed the area occupied in 2008.
"It is an encouraging result for us, but what is really satisfying" the organizers say, "is how the industry is demonstrating its confidence in Oil&nonoil and in S&TC with hard facts. Every participation is important to us, but some have a strong symbolic value and send a clear message. The fair is however based on many dynamics, on small companies that do their part to contribute to technical advances and commercial dynamism. We have more than two months ahead of us for other exhibitors to sign up, we will be talking to businesses, and answering the questions they will be asking regarding the reorganisation that will be defined by the ministerial working committees."

LPG and natural gas lead the pack in general growth

Each area of the event to be held at ModenaFiere from 9 to 11 May is growing and attracting new businesses. The car-care industry framework is complete, encompassing all the different components and company leaders have already signed up, and will be bringing booths and initiatives that are certain to make an impression and their presence felt at the fair.
The "service station" and "alternative fuels" segments are very lively. In these sectors, Oil&nonoil is clearly a top level unique, specialist event, as also confirmed by sponsorship from all the associations in the different branches of supply, processing, distribution and production of products, solutions and equipment for all fuels.

The ecological development of service stations

A large number of Italian Regions have regulations in place for the fuel distribution network, requiring the presence of an eco-compatible product such as LPG or natural gas or, alternatively, looking forward, they require hydrogen or natural gas-hydrogen blends. What is more, they call for the use of photovoltaic panels for the production of electricity to boost energy saving within the entire structure.

Is the industry changing? We will talk about it at Oil&nonoil

After years of immobility and an inextricable clash between those who wanted the fuel distribution first and those who wanted natural-gas powered cars first, now there is finally a rapid parallel growth of service stations and natural-gas powered cars. It is a trend that for the time being shows no signs of any limitations. It can, therefore, be supposed that there is a strong demand for technology among owners to adapt the stations to demand and new regulations.
Before the fair begins, the working committee commissioned by the Deputy secretary of the Ministry for economic development, the Hon. Saglia should be completed, which will redesign the sector as the whole involving all the major players (owners of fuel stations and fuel depots, station operators, consumers and so on). Oil&nonoil could be the perfect time to get a comprehensive look at the industry.

Storage and transportation

Storing mineral oils is one of the issues considered by the Italian Ministry for economic development. The idea of developing efficiency is being focussed on - in supplying and distributing such products.
S&TC hopes to provide an occasion for operators to be able to evaluate technological improvements throughout the chain constituting the distribution of fuel. It ranges from the refinery (point of production) to resellers (fiscal and commercial depots) the service stations or and finally the consumers (industry, private individuals, small enterprises, the public administration and so on).

Conventions, workshops and seminars

The programme of seminars will be ready in a few weeks, but considering the high demand and the number of proposals that are coming in from companies, associations and also dictated by the ferment the industry is experiencing, the decision by the organizers to make four events on the agenda focussing on modernization and restructuring of the industry available is providing to be wise. The meeting rooms will be different in size, and fitted to suit the needs of technical seminars as well as crowded conventions.
Twenty or so conventions are already scheduled, to look at subjects that range from the storage to transportation of fuels (participants will include Francesco Molari, Director of Sacim, and Danilo Delledonne, marketing manager for the Bertani Group), from water purification to economic management of the car wash, from designing service stations to prospects for reforming and restructuring the industry, and developing non-oil products to enhancing services.

Mobility and travel

The organizers also intend the conventions and seminars to be an opportunity for proposing issues that are not strictly topical, but that focus the attention of elements that introduce innovation and modernization.
Such elements may include issues regarding analysis and changes in mobility, and the need to provide an increasingly wide range of services to the traveller through the regular network. There will be two round tables on catering and shops reviewing this matter.

In a moment of crisis, the growth of Oil&nonoil and S&TC is encouraging and a message of optimism has been launched to the Italian industry. The confidence shown by exhibitors from past appointments who have not only confirmed their participation but also increased their space by an average of 9% is encouraging, and suggest that they expect to do more good business than ever.
